The Top 3 Rules for the Lash Industry
The Lash and Beauty industry have so many rules about what you can and cannot do. Not only are there so many rules, there are also so many stereotypes. Sometimes it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and like you might never make it and be successful.
I’ve been there, it was hard to find my place as a Lash Artist when I was first starting my business. I didn’t really know how I would fit and form my Lash business around all these rules, stereotypes, and even social norms.
I’ve since found success and I want to give you a little guidance when it comes to following the rules in the Lash Industry. Yes, it is important to get all the certifications and education, but when it comes down to the business and your work the three top rules that I have found are:
- Be passionate ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Be creative ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Stay well educated
Not exactly what you were thinking that I would say? Let me tell you why these 3 things are the most important rules.
BE PASSIONATE. Your passion is what drives you to success. Let’s say for instance that you are really passionate about running and absolutely love it, but have zero passion for gardening and you kill everything you try to plant. Which one are you going to be better at and succeed in? The one that you are passionate about. Make a board or album in your phone that has all the things that you LOVE about your Beauty Business and keep it close for times when you need a little boost.
BE CREATIVE. Being creative is what keeps you ahead of the game. I know what you’re thinking, “Well, I’m not a designer so how can I be creative.” Creativity isn’t all about art. When I first started my business I wanted to come up with an experience for my clients that would keep them coming back. I used creativity in my customer service to provide my clients with an experience that left them feeling pampered and like a Queen. This is just one example of how creativity is all about staying fresh and interesting. If you need inspiration on creativity, check out what others are doing and then be creative and make it your own.
STAY WELL EDUCATED. You must keep up with changes in the Beauty industry. It’s so important that you know what is going on in the industry so you can keep delivering exactly what your clients want. Staying well educated also comes with being willing to invest in yourself. Do lashes take you longer than others? Does a certain part of the process seem hard to you? Then invest in yourself, learn and become better. Being a Lash Artist, you must be willing to learn and evolve.
Don’t let all the rules, stereotypes, and social norms of the Beauty and Lash Industry overwhelm you. Focus on pursuing your business as your passion, always being creative, and investing in education when you need it.
